97 species of birds (don't miss these audio recordings) - San Pancho, Mexico

We're loving this E-Bird report from recent guest and passionate bird watcher, Matthew Pierce. Here's an excerpt from the report:


"This birding trip was based out of Tailwind Jungle Lodge, located at the end of the dirt road heading north from San Pancho, Mexico. Tamara and Walter were great hosts and the lodge is a perfect getaway, consisting of several well-designed bungalows, palapas and casitas (with cooktops or full kitchens, running water, power and refrigeration) nestled thoughtfully into the hillside jungle. There is also a pool with outdoor shower, which was very refreshing after long morning hikes. Excellent habitat and opportunities for birding exist in and around the lodge.


I was able to see and hear a lot of species right from my casita, which had both a lower deck (with great jungle and ocean views) and upper deck (with 360 degree views). Both decks also have a clear view of the sky, which allowed me to do some Nocturnal Flight Call monitoring in addition to my normal dawn and

daytime recording of bird sounds."
